This is my first exposure to Bonamanzi Game Reserve. I worked for RBM, a company in Richards Bay. We were sent on leadership training. I fell in love with Bonamanzi. At this stage I did not do birding as a hobby, but I am a keen photographer. I phoned my wife and said she must join me on the weekend.
This reserve is excellent for birding and I recommend visiting the dams, travelling in the veld and partaking of a guided tour down the river.
Special birds for me on this trip were: African Spoonbill, Glossy Ibis, Grey Headed Bush-Shrike, Little Bittern, Purple Swamphen, Sothern Banded Snake-Eagle and the Tambourine Dove.
