2015 09 24 Ndumo

We have formed a little caravan club. We are a few friends camping together. Pierre and Babz Weitz, Alen and Christina Viljoen, Kobus and Madelyn Marais, Cornelia, my youngest son Michael and myself.

We decided it is time to visit Ndumo Game Reserve again. The Friday afternoon we setup camp. It is great to have a little crowd. We braaied, Kobus played guitar (He is an avid player) for us. We shared food. What a great gathering.

The Saturday morning, we asked Joseph to take us along the Ndumo Pan. What an awesome experience. We saw most of the waterbirds with highlights like the White-backed Pelican, Storks, Herons, Waders and the Osprey. He drove to the furthest point and took us for a stroll to the breeding colonies of Pelicans, White Breasted Cormorants, Woolly-necked Storks, Saddlebill Storks and Reed Cormorants.

What an amazing sight. A cacophony of bird sound, birds landing, moms feeding babies and words cannot capture this scene.

Saturday evening, we braaied together. We are so blessed to listen to the Africa sounds, Fiery Night jars, bushbabies and the smell of meat and the stars so bright it seems you can touch them. We also saw the Common and Red Duiker.

The weekend was over in an inkling. We did not want to go home.

Some Highlights.
