Somebody in our camping group suggested we try something different. Let`s go to Somkhanda.
I decided to book a tent. It is a far way to travel for a weekend and I did not want to tow a caravan. We arrived quite late and for those pulling a caravan, the last bit of road was not easy. It was really convenient to just take the suitcases out and
start enjoying ourselves. We shared a communal kitchen that is fully equipped.
A beautiful reserve, but it is easier to make use of the guided tours. It is real bushveld, encapsulated by mountains.
The night drive was a “ball”. We were treated by seeing a nightjar and some rhinos.
Overall, we did not see many animals. The bird life is good and we enjoyed the weekend and the venue.
