2024 01 29 Amangwe Forest

Richard suggested our bird group visit Amangwe Forest. We are a small group interested in the amazing biodiversity of Zululand. On the day only two of us could go. What an awesome experience. It is only 22 km from Richards Bay.

We arrived at 05h00, turned off the main road and entered the small forest. We were greeted by a chorus of bird songs. This piece of forest treated us to a variety of massive trees, ferns, rich undergrowth and beautiful forest walkways. This area are well maintained by Mondi.

You can smell the fresh air when walking through the forest. Sunlight filters through and create fairy like scenes.

The area is alive with a big variety of species. Colorful butterflies flirt through the openings in the bush. Every step brings new surprises. Bees, spiderwebs a dream for the biodiversity lovers. The paths are well maintained. We really recommend this destination to all serious nature lovers. As the area is secluded visit it in a group.
