We have not camped for a while. Pikkie Kriel decided to join us.
We decided to go on the Friday and return on the Sunday.
Zinkwazi is an old established campsite with awesome vegetation. It creates a very peaceful atmosphere.
My wife treated us, she just retired. She bought us a Sprite Tourer SW gravel road caravan. This was the ideal opportunity to test it. The caravan handled like a dream.
We braaied at night and Pikkie invited family over on the Saturday afternoon. In between we hunted for birds, butterflies and dragonflies.
Good spots for dragonflies are at the little pond and where you go down to the lagoon on the left.
We also were informed by the local bird club members that we must visit the Harold Johnson Nature Reserve. It is situated on the south bank of the Tugela River 6km from the river mouth on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast and is a delight for the amateur naturalist.
On our next visit to Zinkwazi we will explore this spot.
Highlights to this trip:
Butterflies: 3 Species
Birds:20 species
Dragonflies:6 Species
