We camped on the weekend of 21 January 2023. Alen and his wife already left for Bahati on the Wednesday. We arrived on the Friday and quickly settled in at the luxury camping sites. Our friend, Gerda Pieterse, joined us.
The weather turned and we could only start late Saturday morning. It was misty and the birds were slow to appear. What a great time to be in the bush. At night we hear the nightjars and bush babies talking to us. We enjoyed lazing around the pool during the day. We had a heatwave of about 37 °C.
Bahati rarely disappoints and between twee siting’s we saw 32 species. Special surprises for us were the following: African Harrier-Hawk, African Wattled Lapwing, Diederik Cuckoo, European Roller, African Green Pigeon and the Red-Chested Cuckoo.
