Meerensee, sometimes spelt Meer en See, is a pretty suburban area that lies on the edge of Richards Bay Harbour between Alkantstrand, the local beach, and an inland lake.

With our classification of birding areas, it includes a great biodiversity with hot spots like Alkantstrand for sea birds, the Caravan Park – great for forest birds and waders, plentiful dragonfly and butterfly species, and the residential area. I have seen more the 20 species of birds at my home in Meerensee .
